A HISTORY OF WOODWORKING

Thomas Rudd was affected by wood early-on as a child, marveling at these legendary giants in places like Yosemite and all over California's bountiful forests. He fell in love with it's natural beauty and the versatility of this incredible natural material: it's varieties, colors, warmth, and feel. Thomas developed this fascination further working for years in his high school wood shop, later as a trade carpenter, and eventually at the age of 20 while building custom homes in Fort Bragg, CA. He continued his love of wood, working on elaborate historic buildings in San Jose, hanging large custom wood doors, fitting windows, and installing intricately detailed interior trim.

After working as a General Contractor for many years, Thomas is currently dedicated to harvesting raw wood, crafting it into usable materials. Currently for sale are wood tables, raw wood slabs, and other wood-based fine furniture. He is inspired by master woodworker George Nakashima whose revolutionary approach to woodworking philosophy, changed his life course. Thomas feels a natural connection to wood highlighting the beauty of wood in his creations, hoping that his commitment to highly detailed work can be enjoyed by everyone who appreciates the craft.

"There's something warm about wood that can make a better human connection than metal or plastic."  Thomas Rudd
